Guardians of the Galaxy Breaks August Opening Record
Guardians of the Galaxy broke the box office record for the opening of an August film. It made US$94 million this past weekend, making it the third highest opening of the year (behind Transformers: Age of Extinction and Captain America: The Winter Soldier). Get On Up opened the same weekend to only $14 million. Lucy was the second-biggest film over the weekend at $18.3 million.
