Mockingjay, Part 1 Hits Top Opening Weekend

Mockingjay, Part 1 has become the highest-grossing opening weekend film of 2014. The film made US$123 million in the United States, and an additional $152 million overseas. This puts it ahead of previous lead Transformers: Age of Extinction and behind the previous two franchise members ($152.5 and $158.1 million in the US). Mockingjay did outperform its predecessors overseas, however. It's also the 15th biggest opening of all time, not considering inflation.
