Thanos Will Not Appear in Age of Ultron

Speaking to Comic Book Resources at Comic Con, MCU producer Kevin Feige revealed that Thanos will not be making an appearance in the second Avengers film.
Are we going to get any Thanos in "Avengers 2?" There was some of him in "Guardians in the Galaxy," and it was clear that when he gets a movie, it's going to be a big deal.

Right. I'm glad it feels that way. That's the idea. He's not a part of "Avengers 2."

Is that going to be part of the "Avengers 3" game plan?

I think Thanos kind of does what he wants, shows up where he wants to. And I'm not going to tell him otherwise, so you don't know exactly. Smirking at the end of the first "Avengers." But you know, we're still making "Avengers 2," so nothing's definitive one way or the other, actually.

Lorde to Curate Mockingjay, Part 1 Soundtrack

Lionsgate has announced that Lorde will be performing the first single and picking the other artists for the Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack.
SANTA MONICA, CA, July 31, 2014 – Lionsgate (NYSE: LGF), a premier next generation global content leader, announced today that multiplatinum GRAMMY® Award-winning recording star Lorde will curate the soundtrack album for the upcoming third installment of the global blockbuster The Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. In addition to hand-picking the artists for The Mockingjay – Part 1 soundtrack, Lorde will provide the first single for the highly anticipated film and album. The soundtrack will be available via Republic Records this fall.

The 17-year-old New Zealand native –who will embark on her third national North American tour this fall– exploded onto the scene with her Number One global hit ‘Royals,’ and has taken the music world by storm since the release of her critically acclaimed platinum debut album “PURE HEROINE” [LAVA/Republic Records].

Her quadruple platinum selling single ‘Royals’ helped earn two Billboard Music Awards for ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Rock Song,’ and two GRAMMY® Awards for ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop Solo Performance.’ She currently holds the record for ‘Longest #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 by a Female Artist in 2013′ and longest standing #1 for any female artist in the Billboard Alternative Chart history

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson, is the latest installment in Lionsgate’s global box office phenomenon based on Suzanne Collins’ bestselling “Hunger Games” trilogy and will be released in theaters worldwide on November 21, 2014.

“I sat down with Lorde on the set of ‘Mockingjay’ this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film. Her immense talent and keen understanding of Mockingjay’s characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack. I can’t wait to share what she’s done with the fans — it is truly remarkable,” said Francis Lawrence.

Lorde’s unique position as both a songwriter/performer and the curator of the Mockingjay – Part 1soundtrack album came about via her unique relationship with her music publisher, SONGS Music Publishing who was a key architect of the deal.

“Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance,” said Lorde. “The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”

Doctor Who in Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly also has a feature on Doctor Who this week.
Does this week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly defy the laws of physics by being bigger on the inside than it would appear from looking at its exterior? Fans of the British science fiction show Doctor Who may well think so. For this week’s cover story, senior writer Clark Collis travels to the UK to meet with Peter Capaldi, the new star of the now 51-year-old time travel saga, and to find out what fans can expect from the forthcoming season of Doctor Who, which premieres on BBC America on Aug. 23. “He’s more alien than we’ve seen him for a while,” says the actor, speaking about his version of the eccentric Time Lord. “He is less patient with the foibles of human beings.”

Thankfully, the whole Who team were patient with EW‘s probing about the new, hush-hush season. In addition to Capaldi, Collis also spoke with the actor’s costar Jenna Coleman and showrunner Steven Moffat who tackled such burning as questions as “Will Capaldi’s previous appearances in the Who universe be referenced this season?” and “What will happen in the two-part finale?” Collis even got to drive the Doctor’s bigger-on-the-inside time- and space-ship the TARDIS and did so without busting anything which, according to production designer Michael Pickwoad, makes him a more careful temporal navigator than previous Who star Matt Smith (“He was very good at breaking things”). We also persuade Capaldi to talk about the old monsters he’d like his Doctor to face and offer a sartorial breakdown of the Time Lord’s many looks through the show’s half-century history. Never seen Doctor Who (and feel a bid daunted by that history)? Then feel free to peruse our guide to how you can get into Who.
The issue is out this Friday

Doctor Who in Empire Magazine

Empire Magazine has a feature on series 8 in their issue out on Thursday. In the article, Peter commented
It can become a kind of franchise where it's not a real character at all, but just an amalgam of elements that people think are Doctor Who: a scarf, a bow tie... I wanted to be the actual Doctor Who. He's more alien than he's been for a while. He doesn't quite understand human beings or really care very much about their approval. Doctor Who was a part of being a kid in the '60s with The Beatles and Sunday Night At The London Palladium and smog and bronchitis and all that stuff. I think it's part of my DNA.
Jenna said
With Matt's Doctor [Clara] felt quite safe, really. She knew she'd be caught if she was in danger, but this guy is a lot less human-friendly and a lot less patient. He's more removed and inaccessible. You can't quite access him in the same way.

SFX on Series 8

SFX issue 251 has a feature on series 8 of Doctor Who. Below is some info on each of the episodes
  1. Clara trying to cope with her best friend being someone else. A terrifying monster.
  2. Gritty Dalek ep that goes into the last place in the universe the Doctor should be.
  3. Very funny Robin Hood story all about being a hero and whether the Doctor is a good man.
  4. The story of a date and the Doctor having what appears to be a mild nervous breakdown. Tiny guest cast, no CGI. A bit of Coupling. Quite scary.
  5. A Doctor Who heist movie with a cracking monster, one of Neill Gorton’s best.
  6. What effect would slipping away with the Doctor have on your life? A hoot with some serious bits. Bit like The Lodger.
  7. Proper drama with monsters and all the Doctor Who stuff that you could want. Also features a callback to a past episode (sort of).
  8. Moffat playing the long game with a callback to something from Matt’s first series. A brilliant idea of a monster. Foxes singing.
  9. A horror story that starts off with a very cute idea and becomes really quite frightening by the end. One of the best ever sight gags in it.
  10. Boldly beautiful, lyrical and poetic. A fairytale, but not Moffat fairytale. Quite different with a clever main visual idea
  11. High octane action, with Cybermen and some proper UNIT stuff. Strong emotional story about Clara and the Doctor and the fact that the way they interact might not be healthy for everyone around them.
