Ask Jeeves Synopsis

The CW has released the synopsis for episode 10x06 of Supernatural.
DEAN GETS A SURPRISING MESSAGE FROM BOBBY’S CELL PHONE — Dean is surprised when he checks Bobby’s cell phone and hears a message that says Bobby or his next of kin have been named as a beneficiary in an heiress’ will. Hoping that means extra money, Dean talks Sam into hitting the road to claim their fortune. However, what they encounter at the house is far from a treasure chest.

In the Forest of the Night Review

What caused the solar storm? The Doctor said it was never meant to happen in the original timeline, even the TARDIS didn't warn him until it was too late. I'm guessing it was something to do with Missy; her people at 3W tried to destroy the Earth with a solar storm. This was either the precursor to the Cyberman invasion or some sort of alternate plan. Perhaps they just wanted to destroy the human race and the solar storm was the easier option. When that didn't work, the planned to upgrade the dead and destroy the living.

What was Missy surprised about at the end of the episode? Perhaps she was expecting the Doctor to try to stop the solar storm. She might have been surprised that he just let it happen. Or maybe she was referring to the plants stopping it. Alternatively, she wasn't behind the freak storm and there are larger forces at work. I've always thought that a one-season arc for the return of Gallifrey is too short. It could be that the 3W arc ties into a larger one about the Time Lords, one that spans the entire 12th Doctor.

This light people sorta of remind me of the fairies from Torchwood. They're little people who have been around since the dawn of time. Except I think the ones in Torchwood didn't glow. But then again, this show has like two special effects, so they're probably going to be glowing amber things. Alternatively, they could be the spirit of the trees a la The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe. Whatever they were, they obviously have some sort of connection to nature, as well as an interest in protecting the Earth. Based on that and their past exploits, they seem to be on the Doctor's (or at least humanity's) side.

One thing that's intrigued me about this episode and The Power of Three is the time zones. The invasions are depicted as overnight, but that's only in Britain. In the US or China it's going to happen in broad daylight. People are going to see this happen. It could be the Asian UNIT bases warned Kate about the cubes and ran all those tests that got done surprisingly early in the morning. On the other hand, UNIT could just be ready for an invasion at all hours of the night and day. In this week's episode, the director could have shown video of the forest growing in daylight during the news segment, but she instead showed a clip of a newscaster talking about a soccer pitch. It's times like this that the show becomes a bit Britain-focused.

Soundtrack for The Day & Time of the Doctor

Silva Screen has announced the details of the soundtrack for The Day/Time of the Doctor.  The 2-disc set will be released on November 24 in the UK priced £14.51.
2013 was an epochal year for Doctor Who and the two specials reflected the series monumental impact as a British cultural icon.

The Day Of The Doctor celebrated the 50th anniversary of the series with a story that weaved in many references to its distinguished past and was transmitted to 94 countries, the largest ever simulcast for a TV drama. The Time Of The Doctor in the now traditional Christmas Day slot showcased the departure of Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi’s debut as the twelfth Doctor.

With this 2 CD release, Murray Gold’s best-selling music for the series extends the catalogue to nine years of superbly crafted themes from uplifting and exciting to reflective and melancholic. Ever since Doctor Who’s revival in 2005, Murray Gold’s incidental music has become as iconic as the theme tune (originally composed by Ron Grainer) he re-arranged. It takes sadness and provokes tears.

“It takes danger and quickens the pulse. It takes adventures through time and space with a mad man in a box and somehow makes it all seem even more weird and wonderful than it already is.” – Radio Times

Agent Carter Season 1 Synopsis

Marvel has released the official synopsis for season 1 of Agent Carter.
ABC presents its second action packed series from the creative minds at Marvel in “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” inspired by the feature films Marvel’s "Captain America: The First Avenger" and Marvel’s "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," along with the short "Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter."

Years before Agent Coulson and his S.H.I.E.L.D. team swore to protect those who cannot protect themselves from threats they cannot conceive, there was Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger," Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), who pledged the same oath but lived in a different time when women weren’t recognized as being as smart or as tough as their male counterparts.

But no one should ever underestimate Peggy.

It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be back out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers – aka Captain America.

When old acquaintance Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper, Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger”) finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy - the only person he can trust - to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons and clear his name. He empowers his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy, “Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World”), to be at her beck and call when needed to help assist her as she investigates and tracks down those responsible for releasing these weapons of mass destruction. But Jarvis, who is a creature of habit and sticks to a rigid daily routine, is going to have to make some major life changes if he’s going to be able to keep up with Peggy.

If caught going on these secret missions for Stark, Peggy could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison – or worse. And as she delves deeper into her investigation, she may find that those she works for are not who they seem, and she might even begin to question whether Stark is as innocent as he claims.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” stars Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, James D'Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story”) as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj (“Dollhouse”) as Agent Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham (“American Hustle,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Chief Roger Dooley.

Tara Butters (“Resurrection”), Michele Fazekas (“Resurrection), Christopher Markus (Marvel's “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), Stephen McFeely (Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger,” Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier"), Chris Dingess (“Men in Trees”), Kevin Feige (Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), Louis D'Esposito (Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy,” Marvel’s "Iron Man 3”), Alan Fine (Marvel's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s "Thor”), Joe Quesada (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Marvel’s Avengers Assemble”), Stan Lee (“Spider-Man,” “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk”) and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville,” “Lost,” “Heroes”) are executive producers. “Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Soul Survivor Review

Now that Metatron, Abbadon, and demon!Dean are gone, the only things Team Free Will has to worry about are Castiel's grace and the Mark of Cain. The Mark ought to be simple enough, probably the only thing they have to do is find Cain and get him to take it back. Of course, it's probably not going to be that easy: either Cain will refuse or say he can't (there's some sort of spell), they won't be able to find him, or they won't realize the solution is that simple. The grace issue has two solutions, find Cas' grace or make a new one. Either one will probably require either the angel tablet or negotiating with Metatron. Since they can't read the tablet, they'd have to somehow convince Metatron to give up the information and he's probably going to have a price.

So now we have a big bad villain: Rowena. Judging by the guys on the ceiling, I'm guessing she's a demon, though it remains to be seen if that building burns down. The whole angels/demons thing is kinda overused, it'd be neat if they had another story arc about a different supernatural race. The only season we had that didn't deal with angels and demons was season 7 and the Leviathans. I'd really like it if she was something new and deadly. Of course, we still have Cole to deal with, so we'll have to see how he plays into the mix. Maybe the two of them will team up to take down the brothers.

Castiel now owes Crowley, this is going to play out interestingly. Crowley, being the businessman that he is, is definitely going to call in this debt. Seeing as Mark Sheppard is now a series regular, that means Crowley is going to be getting more of an arc this season. He probably has some dubious scheme in mind for the brothers and is going to enlist Cas' help in it. He may even try to convince Cas it's for the brother's own good. Cas has been known to do some bad things for good reasons and this may be one of them. What Crowley has in mind, I have no idea, but I'm sure we'll find out (probably before the Winchesters).

A Hen in the Wolf House Review

So of course Hydra is trying to weaponize the Obelisk. Why wouldn't they? They seem to be testing it in an ingestible form. Jemma pointed to a possible extinction level event, which could mean Hydra is planning on putting it in the water supply. I don't know why they would want to kill the entire species, though. Maybe they're planning on putting it in the water supply of one town as a demonstration. Then they would order the militaries of the world to surrender to them before they distribute it everywhere.

I don't get why Coulson didn't tell Jemma that Bobbi was a SHIELD agent. It probably would've helped her nerves a bit if she knew there was someone in there who had her back. If he was worried about her cracking under pressure and blowing Bobbi's cover, Bobbi seems more than capable of fending for herself. Not only that, but if anyone was interrogating her, it would probably be Bobbi, so what's the problem? Unless they brainwashed her, but Bobbi would get her out of there before that happened.

So Skye's an alien. That much was already obvious considering the only other explanations for her origins are Mutants and super-soldier experiments gone horribly wrong. Fox owns the rights to the former, so a Chinese super-soldier program is the only alternative. Skye doesn't seem to be juiced up, but then neither does Natasha and she has serum, too. Unless of course, Skye's parents were enhanced and the capabilities aren't inheritable. That would make sense since they're environmental and not genetic. My current preferred theory is that Skye is actually Ms. Marvel. However, that may be mostly because I want that character to happen.

If the symbols are indeed a map, then they're most likely a star map. Three possibilities exist for the scale of this map. It's probably a map of either the galaxy, the universe, or a route from Earth to wherever this thing originated. The smaller, more remote, possibilities are the multiverse, something subatomic, or time. Two of those would imply a level of knowledge rivaling the Time Lords or the Q Continuum, so I'm betting on subatomic. It's possible that this map is genetically programmed into the Guest House alien to guide it home. It would also be on the Obelisk in a "if found, return to" type of thing. Perhaps the species were exiled from their home long ago and programmed with a way to find it again should they have the means. This programming was somehow genetic and passed along to Coulson and Garrett when they took the serum. Skye already has it in her, but the gene hasn't been activated for some reason (Coulson and Garrett's human physiology activated the gene in the serum).

First Trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Earlier today, Marvel posted the first trailer for next year's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Flatline Review

So Clara got to be the Doctor for a day. Not many companions get that honor. Clara has been shaping up to be one of the Doctor's more trusted companions. First she learned learned his name and about the War Doctor and now she's gotten use the title Doctor. Mind you, she almost immediately changed it to Dr. Oswald, but the Doctor did say she was the Doctor. I can only speculate on what other honors Steven Moffat will bestow upon her in the future.

A long time ago, I heard about a story that was roughly the opposite of this one. I forget whether it was a fan production, a novel, or simply a concept, but the idea was that the Doctor and his companion were transported to the 2 dimensional world. It's sort of similar to how the Doctor became a cartoon in Fear Her. I seem to recall it starring the 4th Doctor and Romana.

There's a connection at the end of this episode to Voyage of the Damned. In that episode, the Doctor and Mr. Copper discussed how the people who survive things aren't always the ones who deserve to and if you could pick who lived and died that "would make you some sort of monster." In this episode, Wade seemed to hold a very low opinion of the community service people and wasn't very upset that they had died. He was just glad he lived.

Isn't the chameleon circuit supposed to be broken? Changing into siege mode seems like it would require a functional one. I've always sort of suspected that the chameleon circuit is fully functional and has been for a long time now. The TARDIS simply knows that the Doctor likes that form and has chosen to lock herself into it. I mean, we know that the TARDIS can regenerate itself, so it seems to fit that if it did that, the chameleon circuit would be repaired. We also know that the TARDIS is sentient and (at least it seems) has some sort of feelings for the Doctor. Even if they aren't romantic feelings, she at least wants him to be happy and part of that is taking a familiar form.

Clara doesn't seem too happy about all the lying she had to do while being the Doctor. She had to lie to community payback crew about who she was and whether they would survive. She also lied to Danny about her whereabouts and had to deal with the fact that she had lied to the Doctor about Danny being okay with them traveling. The Doctor even mentioned her as being "a doctor of lies". This is tied to the fact that the constant lying is part of what drove her apart from the Doctor in the first place. Now she got to stand in his shoes and see how much lying it takes to be the Doctor.

Here's the trailer for next week's episode of Agents of SHIELD.

Paper Moon Trailer

Here's the trailer for next week's Supernatural.

Face My Enemy Review

They said in this episode that there was another person out there who was carving the alien symbols. Assuming the symbols are Cree (as hypothesized by fans), then perhaps the carver is Carol Danvers. If this is true, is could act as Ms. Marvel's introduction to the Cinematic Universe and possibly a future movie appearance.

We finally got a Philinda episode. I know a lot of the fans (including myself) ship them, as do Clark Gregg and Ming Na-Wen. It appears even Hydra ships them, since Agent 33 accepted a date with Phil in May's place. Unfortunately, that was what tipped Phil off, since May apparently hates coffee. I don't know whether Phil meant coffee in general or going out with him for it, but I'm hoping for the former.

They actually had me thinking for a while there that Talbot was Hydra. I wasn't really expecting that mask technology to make an appearance. After May kicked "Talbot" and his face glitched, my first thought was that he was a life model decoy. I'm glad Hydra hasn't infiltrated that far into the government (that we know of). However, it may be a Hydra agent who's pushing him to get rid of SHIELD. If Talbot discovers he's been taking orders from Hydra this whole time, that may change his views of SHIELD.

Is it wrong that I'm worrying about Raina? She seems to be in a bit of trouble at the end of this episode. Maybe it's because I'm no longer sure if she's working for Hydra. Last season it was pretty clear that she was working for Centipede, but now she's taken to referring to Hydra in the third person. She may have more of an interest in superhumans, regardless of whose side they're working on. I'm also curious why the obelisk elected not to kill her. She must be special in some way, though maybe she's just especially evil.
